Generation Unleashed

Generation Unleashed known as GU was established by youth for youth. GU is a progressive, cutting edge youth based ministry that has been developed and implemented by Abundant Life Church in Holbrook NY (Senior Pastor Gregory A. Wilk). The purpose of GU is to provide a positive and safe environment by the faith-based community for the youth in Suffolk County.

Since its inception GU has hosted and/or taken part in numerous events locally, regionally and nationally; in the past 14 months GU has reached nearly 10,000 people both young and old. GU works in partnerships with local churches, supportive ministries and community based agencies. GU has been recognized by the County Executive’s office and has been commissioned by the NYS Office of Children & Family Services to minister in the local juvenile detention centers.

GU events are scheduled in churches, schools and other appropriate venues. In August of 2009 GU sponsored and hosted the Youth & Family Festival at the Brookhaven Amphitheater/Bald Hill in Farmingville NY. This event was a collaborative effort that was supported by the faith based community, local government, businesses, non-profit and private sectors. This free event had over 2,000 attendees and over 25 performances throughout the day, the event ended with a spectacular fireworks show by Grucci. This event afforded youth, families and individuals to come and be part of a day of fun but more importantly a day of unity.

The methods that are used by GU include visual art, drama, music, poetry and multi-media to give those that attend an experience that will be exciting, impactful and memorable.
